First Unit test (G1 and G2) Flashcards
This works towards broad goals of overall health and well-being, rather than narrow goals of sport competition, larger muscles or concerns over appearance
General Fitness Training
It helps to increase calorie burning by boosting metabolism, a process further enhanced while gaining more lean muscle
Diet
This type of exercise program can burn fat and increase the metabolic rate
Aerobic exercise program
What are the 4 Principles of Physical Training?
1) Specificity
2) Progressive Overload
3) Reversibility
4) Individual Differences
Known as adapting to the type of training. To develop a particular fitness component, you must perform exercises that are designed specifically for that component.
Specificity
Known as Adapting to Amount of Training and FITT Principle. The body adapts to the demands of exercise by improving its functioning . When the amount of exercise increases, fitness continues to improve
Progressive Overload
What are the 4 Dimensions of Progressive Overload
1) Frequency
2) Intensity
3) Time
4) Type
Known as Adapting to a Reduction in Training. Fitness is a reversible adaptation. When a person stops exercising, up to 50% of fitness improvements are lost within 2 months.
Reversibility
Known as Limits on Adaptability. From a physical standpoint, we are not created equal. There are limits on the adaptability and potential for improvement of any human body. However, physical training improves fitness regardless of heredity
Individual Differences
This is an approach to decrease the demand of an exercise or movement
Regression
Refers to the process of increasing the intensity, duration, frequency or amount of activity or exercise as the body adapts to a given pattern
Progression
It is considered a measure of the body’s ability to function efficiently and effectively in work and leisure activities, to be healthy, to resist hypokinetic diseases and to meet emergency situations
Physical Fitness
It is a set of attributes that allows the body to respond or adapt to the demands and stress of physical effort — to perform moderate to vigorous physical activity without becoming overly tired
Physical Fitness
What are the 2 concepts that comprise Physical Fitness?
General Fitness (a state of health and well being)
Specific Fitness (a task oriented definition based on the ability to perform specific aspects of sports or occupation)
What are the 2 Fitness Standards
