How did the First Red Scare influence 2 organisations in particular?
It helped to form the American Legion by 1919, made up of 1 million veterans who went on ‘Red Hunting’
It also helped the revival of the Ku Klux Klan who reached a peak of 3-6 million members by 1924
What event had occurred during April and September of 1919?
36 bombs were discovered at various state officials addresses with a further 8 cities facing bomb explosions
What did Palmer do in response to the bombings?
Set up the ‘Radical Division’ to root out the Communists and Anarchist he blamed for the bombings
More than 5-10,000 suspected communists were arrested and 556 were deported
