A time after the sun has set and a time after winter has passed. The year is set 2 years because the first World War

The bright colour shows the positive atmosphere that there was up until the ‘police inspector’ everything changes.
“The lighting should be pink and intimate until the INSPECTOR arrives and then it should be brighter and harder”
