Birth and Infancy age range and key features?
0-2 and infants grow rapidly reaching approximately half their adult height by the age of 2 years old. At around 1 year old they can walk and by the age of 2 years they can run.
Early childhood age range and key features?
3-8 children continue to grow at a steady pace, they continue to develop coordination and strength.
Adolescence age range and key features?
9-18 adolescence experience growth spurts. they develop sexual characteristics during puberty
Early adulthood age range and key features?
19-45 young adults react the peak of their physical fitness.
Middle adulthood age range and key features?
45-65 the ageing process begins with some loss of strength and stamina. women start menopause
Later adulthood age range and key features?
65+ the ageing process continues with a gradual loss in mobility, older adults will experience a loss of height of up too a few centimetres
human growth?
growth is an increase in a measureable quantity, such as height or weigh or other dimensions
human development
development is about the complex changes in skills and capabilities that an individual experience as they grow.
maturation?
completely different to growth and development, it is genetically controlled changes influencing development, eg puberty

1 month fine and gross motor skills?
Gross- lifts chin, some control of the head
Fine- opens hand to grasp finger
3 months fine and gross motor skills?
Gross- cant lift their head and chest when lying on front
Fine- can briefly grasp a rattle
6 months fine and gross motor skills?
Gross-rolls over can sit up for a short time without support, kicks legs when held up
9-10 months fine and gross motor skills?
Gross- crawls, beings to walk while holding onto objects
Fine-using fingers and thumb to hold small objects
12-13 months fine and gross motor skills?
Gross- stands alone, can walk without support
Fine- manipulates and places toys
