Professionally trained for specific security
3 types:
Attack dogs- attack ANYONE except trainer
Watch Dogs-sound waring but DON’T ATTACK
Command Dogs- attack on command of their trainer
-Will not normally abandon premises…react to training
House Dogs?
Trained by owner
- will attack anyone who enters premises
- can be JUST AS DANGEROUS at Security dogs
-authoritative commands can intimidate
Household Pets:
Bark , but usually do NOT create problem
Members are to assume???
ALL DOGS ARE VICIOUS
If smoke or fire conditions are NOT evident:
call listed number relative to security dogs (24 hour service is maintained to take charge of these dogs)
Good practice, give dog means to ____?
ESCAPE…HOWEVER, dog may return
How to detect presence of dog?
SHAKE HANDLE VIGOROUSLY
Keep Dog away, use ?
- pressurized water extinguisher or CO2, direct into DOG’S FACE…Back dog into room/corner
- LOUD commands may work
if dog is still aggressive, push chair or tool and allow DOG TO BITE IT…offer resistance
When all methods fail?
USE CHARGED LINE
**in JUNKYARDS and other facilities of that nature, the SAFEST approach is to use a WATER STREAM.
If deemed advantageous, request PD for Emergency Service Unit equipped with tranquilizer …

Pit Bulls:
attack spontaneously
eye to eye contact is bad
direct STREAM (do not hit with lumber )
