Fire Tetrahedron
The 04 parts of the fire tetrahedron - heat, oxygen, fuel, and uninhibited chemical chain reaction.
Class Alpha Fire
Ordinary combustibles such as wood, paper, plastics, etc. Smoke color is white or grey. Extinguishing option is water or AFFF.
Class Bravo Fire
Combustible liquids such as gasoline, diesel, paints, fuels, solvents, grease, etc. Smoke color is black or brown. Extinguishing option is PKP Extinguisher, AFFF, or halon.
Class Charlie Fire
Energized electrical equipment. Smoke color is blue or white. Extinguishing option is C02 extinguisher or safely secure source of the electricity converting the event to a class alpha fire.
Class Delta Fire
Combustible metals such as magnesium or titanium. Smoke color varies depending on metal being burned. Extinguishing option is to jettison or advanced training needed.
