Weapons Prohibition Act - Schedule 1:
1. Knives
2. Military style weapons
3. Miscellaneous weapons

What are the Inquiries and forensic procedures to conduct on seized firearm:
A
- Check indices for registration (Firearms Registry)
- Trace serial number through COPS, Firearms Registry and FIU
- Ballistic examination
- Fingerprint examination
- DNA examination
- Metallurgist including recovery of serial number

What is a Weapons Prohibition Order:
A
- No search powers associated with a WPO (need to use regular search powers)
- Order does the following:
- Makes it clear to the subject that they are NOT allowed to possess prohibited
weapons - Provides a presumption that a prohibited weapon found at their premises belongs to
them

What is a Firearms Prohibition Order:
A
- Prohibits the subject from possessing any firearm, firearm part or ammunition
- Search powers are only there to facilitate police being able to ensure the person is
complying with the FPO - Additional powers: enable police, without a warrant, to search an FPO subject’s person,
as well as any vehicle or premises that the person occupies, controls or manages - These may be conducted as ‘reasonably required’ to determine if they’ve committed
an offence
