What are the four cardinal rules of firearms?
Be sure of your target - what’s around it and what’s behind it.
Point muzzle in safe direction - laser rule.
Keep finger outside of trigger guard.
Treat as loaded.
What is the definition of safe direction?
if an unintentional discharger occurs, minor damage to property and no human injury will result.
What are the five types of ammunition?
FX-marking - low energy coloured projectiles, primer and powder.
Frangible - live rounds with primer and powder, in which the projectile is designed to shatter into small pieces on contact with any object.
Securi-blank - small amount of powder and primer, no projectile fired, recoil is present.
Drill - does not fire.
Operational - live rounds used in real life.
What are the four components of ammunition?
Case, Projectile, Primer, Powder.
Describe how a round is fired.
the primer is struck and ignites the powder, the powder explodes causing the projectile to be propelled out of the firearm.
What are the four main Crimes Act 1961 Sections in relation to fire orders?
Section 39 - Arrest
Section 40 - Preventing Escape
Section 48 - Self defence or defence of others
Section 62 - Excess force
What three alternatives must be considered before shooting an offender?
Communication, Less violent alternatives, Delaying.
