Purposes of fire support planning:
- Achieve effectiveness and efficiency from fire support assets in meeting fire spt requirements of the force
- Determine the proper allocation of fire support
What are the two types of fire support planning?
Top-down - formal planning process
Bottom-up - time is critical
What are the 3 types of targets?
Known, likely, suspected
What is the diff between “list of targets” and “target list”?
“List of targets” are submitted to higher on a target list worksheet, once target numbers are assigned by higher it then becomes a “target list”
What are the two types of targets? And the difference?
Point target - targets less than 200m in length or width
Linear target - greater than 200m in length/width, but less than 600m
What are the fires we plan for in the offense?
Prep
Conduct
Consolidation
What are the fires we plan for in the defense?
Long range
Close defensive
Final protective
What are the distances for FPFs?
Arty- 300m
