fingers Flashcards
types of phalangeal fractures
extra-articular, intra-articular, laceration, crush
important tendons and ligaments
collateral ligament, volar plate and extensor tendon
collateral ligament location
lateral borders of the bases of the distal and intermediate phalanges
extensor tendon location
dorsal aspect of the finger at the base of the distal phalanx
flexor tendon location
anterior aspect of finger
volar plate locaion
- fibrous cartilage at the base of the intermediate phalanx
avulsion fracture
occurs when a small chunk of bone attached to a tendon or ligament gets pulled away from the main part of the bone
benign lesions descriptions
is it well circumscribed/corticated, is it lucent, where is the lesion, consider the zone of transition, is there periosteal reaction, location of the lesion, is there soft tissue involvement
enchondroma
- benign cartilaginous lesion, Asymptomatic, may be present with pathological fracture
syndactyly
fusion of soft tissue
