What is fngerprint analysis?

A

Look for the patterns - Arches, Loops, Whirls
* Arche - ridges starting on one side an end on the other
* Loops - enter on one side and exits on the same side, double loops (yin and yang symbol)
* Whorls - central pocket whorl (loop w/ whorl at end), plain (concentric circles)
* Combination - mix of those above

A

What is need to leave a print?

A

Matrix - sweat, oil, etc.
Substrate - surface where print is left | Porous (will absorb matrix), Non-porous (better for prints)

What are Latent Prints?

A

Non-visible, can be made visible with dust (colour dependant on surface)
fluorescent can be used of multicolor surface
magnetic can be used for irregular surface

*Use tape to lift and place on clear surface
