Q

3 Major differences between Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration

A

Cellular Respiration occurs in animals, Photosynthesis occurs in plants. Cellular Respiration is an Energy Releasing process, Photosynthesis is an Energy Storing process. Cellular Respiration occurs in the mitochondria, Photosynthesis occurs in the chloroplast.

Q

Explain in detail the process of Mitosis.

A

Prophase: longest phase, chromosomes become visible
Metaphase: nucleus breaks apart
Anaphase: chromosomes leave the center of the cell to the top/bottom

Q

Explain genetics, probability, and how Punnett squares are used.

A

Genetics is the study of heredity and the variation of inherited characteristics. Probability is the likelihood a particular event will occur. Punnett squares are used to determine the gene combinations that might occur from a genetic cross.

Q

What is DNA? Describe the structure of DNA and the concept of mutations.

A

DNA is Deoxyribonucleic Acid, an acid that stores/transmits genetic info from one generation to the next. The structure is a long molecule made up of nucleotides. (3 parts: deoxyribose, phosphate group, adenine, cytosine, guanine, and thymine).
