neuroleptic malignant syndrome
fever elevated WBC's and CPK vital signs unstable encephalopathy lead pipe rigidity (ATI--Life threatening medical emergency: sudden high grade fever, BP fluctuations, dysrhythmias, muscle rigidity, diaphoresis, drooling, and change in level of consciousness developing into coma
anticholinergic effects
dry mouth blurred vision photophobia urinary hesitancy/retnetion constipation tachycardia
neuroendocrine effects
gynecomastia (breast enlargement), galactorrhea, and menstral irregularities
acute dystonia
severe spasms of tongue, neck, face or back; crisis situation which requires rapid treatment
parkinsonism
bradykinesia, rigidity, shuffling gait, drooling, and tremors
akathisia
unable to stand still or sit and is continually pacing and agitated
tardive dyskinesia
involuntary movements of the tongue and face, such as lip-smacking, cause speech and/or eating disturbances; can also include involuntary movements of arms, legs or trunk
