generalization based on insufficient evidence.

conclusion that doesn’t follow earlier statement, irrelavent
Red Herring
changing the subject in order to distract from main argument
Either Or
suggestion that only 2 alternatives exist
Slippery Slope
arguer claims that a sort of chain reaction that ends in a bad consquence
Bandwagon Appeal (ad populum)
claim that an idea should be accepted because large number of people are doing it.
Card Stacking
concealing, withholding evidence, unless supporting them
Ad Hominem (argument to person)
an attack on the person except rather then argument
Straw Man
arguments attribute an unreasonable position to opponents. (made up argument by opposing side)
Circular Reasoning
argument in which person instead of applying evidence simply restates the point in other language
Ethos Pathos Logos
E- persons credibility
P- emotional feelings
L- information or facts given
Anaphora
repetition of the same word(s) at the beginning of successive phrases, clauses, or sentences.
Anadiplosis
repeats the last word of one phrase, clause, or sentence at or very near the beginning of the next
Asyndeton
omitting conjunctions between words and phrases
Antithesis
presentation of two contrasting images (to be or not to be)
