Former/Classical prophets
In the Jewish Canon, the designation of Joshua, Judges, Samuel, and Kings.
Little Apocalypse
Name given to Isaiah 24-27 because these chapters read like miniature book of revelations. Served as grand conclusions.
Oracles
Prophetic word, usually of some length, that the prophet received from God and announced to the people.
Woe Oracles
Judgement speeches typically beginning with the word “woe” that is, an exclamation of grief, distress, affliction, or lament.
Messiah
Anointed one
Remnant
A reminder.
Branch
Prophetic description of the coming Messiah who would bring God’s people peace, goodness, and salvation to those who have placed their faith in him.
Isaiah
Prophets name which means the lord has saved. Saved in Judah’s royal court.
Ancient of Days
Title given to God in Daniel 7. Daniel saw 4 kingdoms.
Saints of the Most High
Individuals in the vision recorded in Daniel 7 who compose the fifth and final eternal kingdom established by the Ancient of Days.
Intertestamental period
Period of history between the close of Old testament times and birth of Christ.
Son of man
A clear designation to a descendant of Adam.
