Final Myology Flashcards
What is the muscle on the lateral aspect of rib cage? What nerve innervates it, and what is it’s function?
Serratus Anterior
Long Thoracic Nerve (C5,6,7 keep the wing from heaven)
Protract scapula and stabilize it against thoracic wall and rotate glenoid cavity superiorly
What is this muscle, innervation and action, and insertion?
Deltoid
Axillary Nerve (C5,6 terminal branch posterior cord)
Anterior part flexes and medially rotates humerus, middle ABduct, Posterior extends and laterally roatates humerus
What is this muscle, action, innervation?
Subscapularis
ADduct, medially rotate humerus (rotator cuff muscle, so also holds humerus in glenoid cavity)
Suprascapular Nerve (C5,C6)
Attaches to lessser tubercle of humerus
What is this muscle, action, innervation?
Supraspinatus, greater tubercle of humerus attachment
ABduct humerus with the Deltoid, rotator cuff so holds head in place
Suprascapular nerve (C5,6)
what is the yellow muscle, action, innervation?
Infraspinatus
greater tubercle of humerus
Laterally rotates humerus, holds humeral head in cavity (rotator cuff)
Suprascapular Nerve
what is the purple muscle, action, innervation, insertion?
Teres Minor (rotator cuff)
Greater tubercle
Laterally rotate humerus hold head in cavityy
axillary nerve
Blue muscle, innervation, action, insertion?
Teres Major
ADduct, Medially rotate humerus
Lower subscapular Nerve
Intertubercular groove humerus
Yellow muscle, action, innervation insertion?
Biceps Brachii
- Flex humerus, flex and supine forearm, supinate forearm, short head resists dislocation of shoulder
- Short head comes from coracoid process
- Longhead comes from supraglenoid tubercle of scapula
- Insertion is radial tuberosity and antebrachial fascia as bicepital aponeurosis
- Musculocutaneous Nerve
What is the yellow muscle, action, innervation, attachments?
Coracobrachialis
- Coracoid process and Medial aspect of humerus
- Flex and ADduct
- Musculocutaneous Nerve
Triceps
- Long head crosses shoulder joint from the infraglenoid tubercle
- Lateral head posterior aspect of humeral body superiorly to radial groove
- Medial head posterior aspect of humeral body i nferior to radial groove
- extend at shoulder and extend forearm
- Radial nerve
Yellow muscle, action, innervation, attachment
Anconeus
- lateral humeral condyle and olecranon
- radial nerve
- helps triceps extend forarm and stabilize elbow joint
Yellow muscle, innervation, action
Pronator teres
FDS
not to distal phalynx
What is the muscle, action, innervation
FDP
Flex wrist and hand goes to distal phalanges
medial half is ulnar nerve lateral half is median nerve
muslce action innervation
Flexor pollicis longus
- flex hand flex and abduct first metacarpal at first carpometacarpal joint, flex phalanges of pollux
- Nerve is anterior interosseous nerve of the median nerve
- anterior aspect radius and interosseous mem and thumb
