- Adam & Eve-First man and woman

- Noah - Man of righteousness and built
the ark - Abraham - Man of righteousness. First of
God’s chosen people from whom God created the nation of Israel - Jacob: Isaacs’s son, Abraham’s son
- Benjamin: Jacob’s youngest son
Genesis 9 Major Events
- God creates the universe (Gen. 1,2)
- Adam and Eve have to leave the Garden
of Eden because they disobeyed God
(Gen. 3) - Cain kills Abel (Gen. 4)
- Noah builds an ark to save his family and
two of each animal on earth from the
coming flood (Gen. 6) - People from all regions come together to
build the tower of Babel in an attempt to
see God (Gen. 11) - The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were
destroyed because their inhabitants
turned away from God (Gen. 18) - God tells Abraham to sacrifice his son
Isaac. Isaac is spared because of
Abraham’s faithfulness (Gen. 22) - In a dream, Jacob sees a ladder to
heaven. In the dream, God says Jacob’s
descendants will cover the earth.

colors. God uses his brothers’ jealousy to

Exodus Main Theme
God used Moses to deliver Israelites from slavery and established the Tabernacle, also known as the tent, as a place of worship.

Moses-He is an Israelite brought up in the Egyptian Pharaoh’s household.
Exodus Main Events
- Israelites enslaved (Ex.1)
- Moses life and preparation for service
(Ex. 2:1-3:6)
a. God speaks through the burning
bush asking Moses to lead the
Israelites (Ex. 3:1-6)
b. God brings 10 plagues against the
Egyptian people to force the King to
release the Israelites from slavery. - The Passover was Instituted when God
spared the Israelites from the plagues by
having them place lambs blood on their
doorway (Ex. 12) - God parts the Red Sea to allow the
Israelites to flee to safety (Ex. 14-15) - God presents the 10 commandments to
Moses at Mt. Sinai (Ex. 19-20) - The Tabernacle (tent) is planned and
built. (Ex. 35-40)
Leviticus Main Theme
The giving of the law. How the chosen people (Israel) are to relate to God.
Leviticus Main Characters
- Moses. Led the Israelites to the promised
land. - Aaron. Moses older brother and high
priest of Israel
Leviticus Main Events
- The priesthood is established through
Aaron (Lev. 8-10) - The day of Atonement, known as Yom
Kippur (Lev. 16) - Five Annual Feasts established
a. Passover: Commemorates the
sparing of the Hebrews in Egypt
when the firstborn of the Egyptians
were killed. Begins on the 14th day of
Nisan and continues for a week.

b. Feast of Weeks or Pentecost. Marked
the close of the wheat harvest.
Celebrated 50 days after Passover.
(Lev. 23:15)
c. Feast of Trumpets or New Moon:
Marked the beginning of the civil year.
Celebrated on the first day of the
seventh month And began the civil
year of the Jews. (Lev. 23:23-35)
d. Day of Atonement: aka Yom Kippur.
Sins were ceremoniously removed
from God’s sight. It is observed 10 days
later as the day of National Penitence
and Mourning. (Lev. 16, 23:26-32)
e. Feast of Tabernacles: Celebration of
the final harvest and a reminder of the
Hebrew’s forty years in the desert.(Lev.
23:39-43) General laws and conditions
for blessings were established.

Israelites wander through the desert for forty years.
Numbers Main Characters
- Moses.
- Aaron-Moses brother and high priest of
Israel - Miriam-Moses and Aaron’s sister
Numbers Major Events
- Moses’s leadership challenged.(Num. 12)
- 12 spies were sent to Cannon to see if it
could be conquered. (Num. 13) - Israelites rebel against God. (Num. 14)
- Israelites wander in the desert for forty
years. (Num. 15-19) - Moses disrespects God and is denied
entry into the promised land
(Num. 20: 2-13) - Balaam’s donkey speaks (Num. 22:28-35)
- God gives the boundaries of the
promised land (Num. 34:1-12) - Cities of refuge established for those who
caused the death of another person.

Deuteronomy Main Theme
The preparation for the Promised Land and a call to obedience.
Deuteronomy Main Characters
- Moses - Led the Israelites to Canaan
- Joshua - Lead the Israelites into Canaan
and later captured the city of Jericho
Deuteronomy Major Events
- Decalogue - The ten words or the ten
commandments. (Deut. 5:6-21) - Moses gives the great commandment;
To love God above all else. (Deut. 6:4-5) - Code of law to be followed in Canaan
revealed to the Israelites. (Deut. 12-26) - Covenant ceremony; God will bless those
who obey and curse those who disobey.
(Deut. 27-30) - Moses final words. (Deut. 31-33)
