Q

In what sense is the theme of salvation a more dominant theme in the Bible than that of creation?

A

While the Bible affirms God as creator God in a number of places, the whole bible underscores God’s action as the Redeemer God who seeks to save. Israel first knew God as the God who seeks to save, and only when Israel came to understand that her God was the only living God did Israel embrace the idea of God as Creator God.

Q

What is the relationship between YHWH, Moses, and Pharaoh in the conflict in Egypt? What was the role of each? What three roles did Moses have?

A

The struggle was between gods-Yahweh as the God of the Hebrews and Pharaoh as the god of the Egyptians. It was not a struggle between Moses and Pharaoh as two human leaders. Moses was God’s agent, interpreter, and covenant mediator.
