Why was Mary anointing Jesus’s feet significant?
It was deeply symbolic (“in token of”) His impending death and burial.
What was 30 shekels of silver?
The price in the law of Moses for a slave; what Judas agreed as his price to hand over Jesus. Prophesied of in Zechariah.
What does Hosanna mean?
“Deliver now!” or “save now!” The people shouted this at Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
What does “tribute” mean, when Jesus was asked about “giving tribute unto Caesar?
It is better translated as “tax.”
Where did the two great commandments (loving God and your neighbor) originate?
They were well known elements of the Law of Moses, taught in Deuteronomy and Leviticus.
What did Jesus teach in the Olivet Discourse?
That there would be great upheaval and destruction in the world, both near the time of His death (the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD) and prior to the Second Coming.
What issue does Matthew 24 pose?
It seems to teach that the end of the world will come in “this generation.” The JST clears this up by dividing the discourse into sections about two distinct periods: Jesus’s time, and the latter days.
