Population Numbers:
Population number change over time, influenced by births, deaths and migration into and out of the area. The world’s population has increased over time and it is estimated that the world’s population will continue to increase into the future.
Factors affecting birth rates:
- Larger families mean more workers.
- Medical Care.
- Access to contraception
- Tradition for large families
Factors affecting death rate:
- Famine
- Diets
- Medical care
- War
Population-
The amount of people living in a place.
Birth Rate-
The number of births per 1,000 people.
Death Rate-
The number of deaths per 1,000 people.
Ageing Population-
A population with a large amount of old people (over 65).
Youthful Population-
A population with a large amount of young people (under 16)
Problems with Ageing Populations-
- Pressure on Heath Care
- A need for care homes
- More pensions needed
- Fewer economically active (less people of working age).
- Less tax as there are less people working therefore less people to pay tax.
Problems with youthful populations-
- More schools needed.
- In the future, these children will be parents, leading to more strain on health services.
- Fewer people working.
- Less tax as there are less people working and therefore less people paying tax.
Fossil Fuels-
A fossil fuel is a natural fuel formed by the remains of living plants or animals.
What are the three forms of Energy?
Coal
Oil
Gas
Non-Renewable example;
Fossil fuels- They will run out one day.
Energy-
Electricity s a very convenient form of energy that can be generated using different energy resources. All resources have advantages and disadvantages.
Advantages of Fossil Fuels;
Fairly easy to find.
Generate a large amount of energy.
Reliable source of energy.
Well developed source of power as they have been used for years.
