alma 5
alma begins reactivation tour in zarahemla
“Have ye spiritually been born of God? Have ye experienced this might change of hearts?”
“If ye have felt to sing the song of redeeming love, can ye feel so now? Could ye say, if ye were called to die at this time, that ye have been sufficiently humble? Are ye stripped of pride?”
Alma in Gideon
Alma 7
“There is one thing which is of more importance than they all… the Redeemer liveth and cometh among his people.”
The Savior born “at Jerusalem”… “which is the land of our forefathers”
The Savior will “take upon him [our] infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy… that he may now how to succor his people.”
Alma: “my soul doth exceedingly rejoice, because of the exceeding diligence” of the people of Gideon

Women and children martyred by being burned alive; Alma and Amulek forced to witness – he teaches that the Lord is receiving the righteous “unto himself in glory”; He allows the wicked to hurt the righteous “that the judgements which he shall exercise upon them may be just.”
Alma and Amulek are imprisoned; the prison is destroyed in an earthquake

alma 17-19
Alma and the Sons of Mosiah meet up after 14 years apart
Mormon uses the flashback technique again
The Sons of Mosiah (Ammon, Aaron, Omni, Himni) choose to serve a mission to the Lamanites
Ammon meets King Lamoni-chooses to be his servant
Sheep are scattered and Ammon’s heart is filled with joy; he sees it as an opportunity to “win the hearts” of the Lamanites
Ammon teaches with boldness and Lamoni is baptized’ “the light of everlasting life was lit up in his soul.”
alma 20
Ammon and Lamoni meet Lamoni’s father while traveling to Middoni
Lamoni’s father offers Ammon half of his kingdom to spare his life
Lamoni father sees Ammon has no desire to destroy him and he sees “the great love he had for his son Lamoni”
alma 21-22
Another Flashback by Mormon to Aaron’s missionary efforts
Aaron preaches in the synagogue
They question him, “How knowest thou that we have cause to repent?”
Aaron is cast into prison and then freed by Ammon and Lamoni
Aaron teaches Lamoni’s father and tells him that he will “be thy servant”; Lamoni’s father has questions about what Ammon had taught and Aaron teaches him the Plan of Salvation.
Lamoni’s father is willing to give up all his kingdom to have eternal life
They bury their weapons “deep” in the earth
Become the Anti-Nephi-Lehies
alma 23-27
Those who were “converted unto the Lord, never did fall away.”
They decide they no longer want their swords “stained with the blood” of their brethren so they bury their weapons deep in the earth
They allow themselves to be killed rather than to fight other Lamanites. “They were firm, and would suffer even unto death rather than commit sin,” 1,005 are killed. The attacking Lamanites are “stung” and more than had been killed join the converts.
The former Nephites (Amulonites/Amalekites) are hunted & killed by the Lamanites.
Ammon joys in being an instrument in the hands of God. “I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God.”
Despite being depressed and suffering “every privation” Ammon sayes there “never were men that had so great reason to rejoice.”
The Nephites make room for the converts, protect them, and accept them as their brethren.
alma 28-29
The Lamanites/Nephites have the largest battle in their history. Thousands are killed.
Alma writes, “Oh that I were an angel… and cry repentance unto every people.”
Alma writes, “I do not joy in my own success alone, but my joy is more full because of the success of my brethren.”
