Final Flashcards
Lumbosacral Plexus innervates?
Lower Abdomen and Lower Extremities
- Muscles
- Joints
- Skin
- Peritoneal lining
Iliohypogastric Nerve Innervates?
-Skin over inferior abdomen and buttocks
Ilioinguinal Nerve Innervates?
- Superior, medial thigh
- Portions of external genitalia
Genitofemoral Nerve innervates?
Skin covering femoral hiatus
Skin on the scrotum or labia majora
These nerves run through trans abdominis and internal oblique, then go superficial to rectus abdominis
Iliohypogastric
Ilioinguinal
Genitofemoral
Iliohypogastric location
above groin crease
Genitofemoral location
lateral groin below crease and genitals
Ilioinguinal location
medial groin below crease
Pudendal Nerve formed by? Innervates?
Anterior division of S2-S4
-muscle and skin of perineum
Lateral Femoral Cutaneous Innervates?
Skin
-Lateral aspect of thigh to the level of the knee
Posterior Femoral Cutaneous Nerve Innervates?
Skin
- Posterior thigh
- Hip to mid calf
innervates Many muscles of thigh Articular branches to hip - Controls adduction, flexion and extension of hip Cutaneous branches to the skin - Medial thigh
Obturator Nerve
Femoral nerve Innervates? location to groin crease?
Muscles -Rectus femoris -Vastus lateralis -Vastus Intermedius -Vastus medialis -Sartorious Skin -Anterior thigh Stimulation -Sartorious muscle contraction (bandlike across thigh) -Patellar twitch (snap) over knee
At femoral crease just below inguinal ligament
-VAN vein artery nerve coming from penis/vagina going laterally (medial to lateral)
Where does femoral nerve run down leg?
adductor canal (runs under rectus femoris)
Saphenous Nerve Innervates?
Medial leg from knee to the arch of the foot
Sciatic Nerve Innervates?
Hip Extension
Flexion of knee
Tibial Nerve branches into?
Medial plantar nerve
Lateral plantar nerve
-Two branches innervate plantar surface of foot
Popliteal block blocks what?
blocks tibial and common peroneal nerves
Sural Nerve innervates?
Innervates
- Posterior sole of foot
- Posterior heel
- Achilles tendon above ankle
5 nerves at ankle? Which ones deep?
saphenous, tibial, superficial/deep peroneal, sural
deep peroneal (posterior to front tendon on ankle) tibial (just posterior to PT pulse)
Draw cutaneous leg innervation
.
Femoral Nerve Block indications?
Anterior aspect of thigh
Superficial surgery on medial aspect of leg and below knee
Knee arthroscopy (need to add sciatic block to it)
Femoral Nerve Block contraindications?
Previous ilioinguinal surgery -Femoral vascular graft, kidney transplant Large inguinal lymph nodes or tumor Local infection Neuropathy?
Sciatic Nerve Block indications? Location?
- Lower limb surgery
- Often combined with other blocks (femoral)
- If for lower leg preferable to go lower for block like popliteal block
line from femoral head to illiac crest, then 4cm posterior center
Popliteal Block indications? location?
Lower leg surgery
Especially foot and ankle
May require saphenous coverage
7-8cm cephalad of popliteal fossa crease
which nerves innervate Parietal peritoneum?
lliohypogastric
Ilioinguinal
