Plessy v. Ferguson
-homer plessy, an african American was removed from riding a white train car in New Orleans. He was arrested and his case went to the supreme court where they ruled that it was constitutional for the rail cars to maintain the seperation as long as the conditions are equal. SEPERATE BUT EQUAL.

He had a no compromise attitude and could not successfully lower the tariffs during his term and led america into war despite saying he wouldnt.
