1. rebellious water disorder - headache, fever, irritability, strong thirst but w/ vomiting immediately after drinking, urinary difficulty, floating pulse, white tongue coating
2. SP xu - edema, generalized sensation of heaviness, diarrhea, urinary difficulty, and possibly vomiting and diarrhea due to sudden turmoil disorder
3. retention of thin mucus in l. jiao - throbbing pulsations just below umbilicus, vomiting frothy saliva, vertigo, s.o.b., coughing
Wu Ling San (five ingredient powder w/ poria)
actions: warms and transforms phlegm and thin mucus, strengthens SP, resolves dampness
indications: fullness in chest and hypochondrium, palpitations, s.o.b., coughing up clear and watery sputum, dizziness or vertigo, pale and swollen tongue w/ white and slippery or greasy coating, slippery-wiry or slippery-soggy pulse
thin mucus in epigastrium due to weak SP yang unable to transform fluids
Ling Gui Zhu Gan Tang (poria, cinnamon twig, atractylodes, and licorice decoction)
actions: warms the yang, promotes urination
indications: abdominal pain that is aggravated by cold, urinary difficulty, deep aching and heaviness in extremities; may also be generalized edema, loose stools, dizziness, heavy sensation in head, palpitations, coughing, vomiting; pale or dark and swollen tongue w/ tooth marks, white slippery coating; submerged-thin-forceless pulse; for externally-contracted disorders w/ sweating that does not reduce the fever, palpitations in epigastrium, dizziness, generalized twitching, patient feeling unstable on feet as if they were about to fall, white-slippery tongue coating, submerged-thin-forceless pulse

Zhen Wu Tang (true warrior decoction)
actions: warms the yang, strengthens SP, moves qi, promotes urination
indications: generalized edema that is more severe below the waist, cold extremities, chest and abdominal fullness and distention, heavy sensation in body, loss of appetite, absence of thirst, scanty urine, semi-liquid, unformed stools, thick-greasy tongue coating, submerged-thin pulse
- yin type edema due to SP-KD yang xu
Shi Pi San (bolster the spleen drink)
actions: dries dampness, transforms phlegm, regulates qi, harmonizes m. jiao
indications: coughing w/ copious white sputum that is easily expectorated, focal distention and stifling sensation in chest and diaphragm, palpitations, nausea or vomiting, dizziness, a white moist or greasy tongue coating, slippery pulse
phlegm-dampness pattern, caused by SP and LU failure to T&T fluids —> accumulation
Er Chen Tang (two aged herb decoction)
actions: regulates qi, transforms phlegm, clears gallbladder, harmonizes ST
indications: dizziness, vertigo, nausea or vomiting, insomnia, dream-disturbed sleep w/ strange or unusual dreams, palpitations, anxiety, indeterminate gnawing hunger, or seizures accompanied by copious sputum, focal distention of the chest, bitter mouth taste, slight thirst, greasy-yellow tongue coating, rapid-slippery or rapid-wiry pulse

actions: clears heat, transforms phlegm, directs rebellious qi downward, stops coughing

indications: focal distention and fullness in chest and epigastrium, abdominal distention w/ occasional pain, rotten-smelling belching, acid regurgitation, nausea and vomiting, aversion to food, yellow-greasy tongue coating, slippery pulse; there may also be diarrhea
food stagnation from contaminated food or from overeating/overdrinking
Bao He Wan (preserve harmony pill)
actions: strengthens SP, reduces food stagnation, stops diarrhea
indications: reduced appetite w/ difficulty in digestion, bloating and focal distention of epigastrium and abdomen, loose and watery diarrhea, greasy, slightly yellow tongue coating, deficient-frail pulse
SP-ST deficiency complicated by food accumulation that has begun to transform into heat
Jian Pi Wan (strengthen spleen pill)
actions: clears heat and resolves fire toxin, reduces swelling and promotes discharge of pus, invigorates blood, alleviates pain
indications: early-stage sores and carbuncles w/ red, swollen, hot and painful skin lesions, usually accompanied by fever, mild chills, headache, thin tongue coating (either white or slightly yellow), rapid-forceful pulse

Xian Fang Huo Ming Yin (immortal’s formula for sustaining life)
actions: clears heat, resolves toxicity, cools blood, reduces swelling
indications: all types of boils and carbuncles w/ localized erythema, swelling, heat, and pain, accompanied by fever, chills, red tongue w/ yellow coating, rapid pulse; especially useful for deep-rooted and hard lesions, which are said to resemble nails or chestnuts
