Excess Yin

“Excess Cold Syndrome”
Causes:
Cold, damp or any yin patho
Excessive consumption of raw food, cold food, or cold herbs
Signs/Sx:
Aversion to cold, cold limbs, pale face, loose stool, clear urine
T: pale + thick white coat
P: slow + forceful
Excess Yang
causes, signs & symptoms
“Excess Heat Syndrome”
Causes:
Heat (or fire) or other yang pathos
Cold patho which has transformed into heat
Emotional imbalances –> Qi stag –> heat/fire
Any kind of stag which can turn into heat/fire
Diet (spicy, greasy food, alcohol…) & improper use of warming herbs can produce heat
Signs/Sx:
High fever, red eyes, red face, constipation, dark yellow urine
T: red + yellow coat
P: rapid + forceful
Deficient Yang

“Deficient Yang/Cold Syndrome”
Causes: Congenital yang deficiencies Pathogenic yin that consumes yang Lack of nutrition Overexertion Chronic disease
Signs/Sx:
Aversion to cold & cold limbs, pale and listless complexion, fatigue, clear & frequent urination, diarrhea/loose stool
T: pale swollen + thin white coat
P: slow + forceless
*Yang def. mainly refers to KD & SP (KD Yang is the root of the entire body’s yang energy)
Deficient Yin

“Deficient Yin/Heat Syndrome”
Causes: Congenital deficiencies Pathogenic yang that damages yin Unbalanced emotions (causes Qi stag. that turns into heat/fire) create excess heat/fire & damages yin Chronic disease Overexertion (lack of nutrition) Hot natured food, hot herbs
Signs/Sx:
Five-center heat, tidal fever, low grade fever, malar flush, thirst, night sweating, dry throat & mouth, dry stool, dark yellow scanty urine
T: red + little or no coat
P: rapid + forceless (thin)
*Def. of Yin mainly refers to KD, LV, HT, LU (KD Yin is the root of yin of the entire body)
Deficient Yin Damaging Yang
Causes:
Yin Xu
Signs/Sx:
(chronic yin def. signs) night sweating, malar flush, red tongue w/ no coat
(more recent yang def. signs) aversion to cold, cold limbs, deep & weak pulse

Signs/Sx:
(chronic yang def. signs) cold hands, feet, body, pale tongue w/ white coat
(more recent yin def. signs) thin body, irritability, dryness, hot flashes, and thin rapid pulse
Collapse of Yang
causes, signs & symptoms
Causes:
Very strong patho severely damaging Yang-Qi
Severe Yang Qi weakness that collapses with overexertion
Excessive sweating, bleeding, vomiting or diarrhea that cause a severe loss of Yang Qi
Gen. Signs/Sx:
Profuse sudden cold sweat like pearls, unconsciousness, faint slow pulse
(Severe fatigue, very cold limbs and chilliness, body in curled up posture while sleeping and listlessness)
Collapse of Yin

Causes:
Very severe pathogenic heat
Severe Yin-Fluid weakness that collapses with overexertion
Severe vomiting, diarrhea, bleeding, sweating or any other cause that depletes Yin-fluid
Gen. Signs/Sx:
Profuse sudden sticky (clammy warm) sweating, unconsciousness & faint rapid pulse
(Warm limbs, SOB, thirst & irritability)
