Final Flashcards
Most conservative KAPA formula is
B 31G
KAPA diameter of the pipe increases The maximum allowable pressure goes
Down
Most conservative to most liberal formula for K APA
B 31G; modified B 31G; effective area method
Define MOP
Maximum operating pressure as specified by the manufacture of the pipe
Define MAP
Maximum allowable pressure is calculated using measurements of remaining wall thickness and pit depths
Define PF
This is a calculated pressure at which a failure is predicted due to condition of the pipe and other factors pressure should never exceed this level
Define factor of safety
Variable used in the calculation of the PF an MAP that is based on factors such as population environment location and other safety concerns the more risk to life or environment the lower the MAP will be calculated
If MOP is higher then MAP
MAP takes precedence
If MAP is higher then MOP
MOP takes precedence
If PF is lower than the MOP or the MAP
PF takes precedence
Magnesium Zinc and aluminum; Most electronegative potential
Most anodic; most active; least cathodic; least Noble
Copper platinum carbon graphite; Most electropositive metal
Least Anodic; least active; most cathodic; most noble
The point at which water will not accumulate
Critical velocity
How many gallons in a barrel?
42 gallons
In KAPA when the wall thickness decreases the MAP
Decreases
