Non- digetic
Sounds that character cannot hear,
sounds that are not in the diegesis ( a narrative or a plot, typically in a film)
Digetic sound
Sound that characters can hear, also a sound we could expect to hear if we were part of the diegesis ( a narrative or a plot typically in a film) Digetic sound can be divided into a dialogue (speech), sound effects, ambient sound.
