What are the two sides of the room?
Wet and dry side of the room - wet for processing, dry for loading cassettes
How far away must a safelight be from the processing?
Four feet at least
What artifact will be caused if the safelight is too close?
Fogginess
What are the steps of automatic processing?
Develop, (rinse - only manual), fix, wash, dry
What’s the purpose of the developer?
To convert the latent image to a visible image- converts silver halide crystals to black metallic crystals
What is the purpose of the rinse step? (done automatically in automatic processing)
Removes the developer and stops it
What is the purpose of the fixer?
To harden the emulsion and removes undeveloped crystals
What is the purpose of the wash step?
Remove chemicals
Necessities of a light room?
Completely dark, clean, organized, ventilated, white walls.
What ways of marking xrays are legal?
Lead marking, lead tape, photo imprinting, label. Must be permanent and in the emulsion
What type of marking xrays are illegal?
Temporary, writing on the film, labeling with sticky paper label, scratching the film when wet
What has to be on the label?
Name and address of clinic/school, date, owner name, patient name
Where does leftover silver end up?
Developer solution, fixer solution
Where can silver be recycled from?
Fix solution and old xrays
