Film Types Flashcards
Two different film types:
- Double Emulsion
- Single Emulsion
Double emulsion are images obtained from:
direct patient exposure
- screen film
- dental film
Single emulsion are images captured from:
display screen
- laser film
- spot film
- cinefluorography film
- duplicating film
- subtraction film
Screen film
reacts to direct action of X-rays or light emitted from screens (that glow or luminesce)
- some screens emit blue to violet color while some glow green. X-ray film must be sensitive to color emitted from screen (spectral matching)
Green sensitive film is termed _________________ or ____________.
- orthochromatic film
- ortho film
Film that is sensitive to all colors is called ____________ or _____________.
- panchromatic film
- pan film
X-ray is ______ sensitive to red light
not
Dental film is also called ___________ or ______________.
- periapical
- occlusal film
- used in dental offices. smaller in size
Laser printing
hard copy from viewing monitor
(CT, US, NM, and MRI)
Spot Film
- 105mm resembles large movie reel film
- used to image anatomy from the fluoroscopic viewing monitor
Cinefluorography film
- 16mm and 35mm movie reel film viewed with projector
- 100 and 500 foot rolls
- also used in angiography
Duplicating film
- also known as copy film
- used to copy radiograph
- some detail is lost in the process
Subtraction film
- used in angiography
- reverses the radiographic image and removes surrounding structures so all is visualized are the blood vessels
Film should not be stored above ______ (______).
- 68 degrees Fahrenheit
- 20 degrees Celsius
Heat produces unwanted density called ____
fog
