Film Income

A

In this deal, the theatre and distributor agree to several terms:
Theatre negotiates the amount of house allowance/nut with the distributor - this is a set figure to cover basic expenses each week
Percentage split for net box office left after deduction of nut
Percentage split for the gross box office is set
Length of engagement is typically 4 weeks Distributor will get the vast majority of the money made by the movie, either net or gross percentage, whichever is greater.

Requirements to receive a producers offset

A

Complete application
Screen Australia needs to be satisfied that it has ‘significant Australian Content’
needs to be in an eligible format
Its QAPE (Qualifying Australian Production Expenditure) Must meet or exceed the relevant ‘threshold’
Must be an Australian company with permanent residency or ABN
