- p 144. How do you gain control over a LAYOUT’s basic ATTRIBUTES, such as NAME, VIEWS, and PRINTING?
LAYOUTS–>
LAYOUT SET UP
- When would you choose to turn off the INCLUDE IN LAYOUT MENUS checkbox?
could be for a report that makes sense only after performing a special find, or a search screen that works only in find mode. You turn it off in cases like these and use a special script to got to the layout instead.
- How would you know a layout exists if you uncheck the INCLUDE IN LAYOUT MENUS option?
When you do, the layout no longer shows up in the LAYOUTS POP UP MENU or the VIEW–>GO TO LAYOUT MENU in BROWSE, PREVIEW, or FIND MODES, BUT EVERY LAYOUT SHOWS IN THESE MENUS IN LAYOUT MODE, no matter how you set this checkbox.
- What is the SAVE RECORDS AUTOMATICALLY checkbox for?
if you uncheck this checkbox, FM asks you if you want to save changes to a record EVERY TIME YOU MAKE AN CHANGE IN THE FIELD.
- What is the purpose for the SAVE RECORD CHAGES AUTOMATICALLY option?
to allow you to reconsider the change on every field, when you try to exit the record.
- When you uncheck the SAVE RECORD CHANGES AUTOMATICALLY option, how do you keep it from affecting the rest of the database?
Do nothing. This is a LAYOUT SETTING. If you want this option on every layout, you have to do it for every layout.
- What is the SHOW FIELD FRAMES WHEN RECORD IS ACTIVE option?
In BROWSE and FIND modes, FM shows a dotted-line border around all fields. This option turns this border on and off.
