It is a condition of every protection order that a respondent must not……
Possess/have control of any weapon and firearms license. Must surrender at time of service
What may happen if a respondent fails to surrender their firearms and firearms license?
May be arrested for breaching their PSO
When does a temporary protection order become final under the Family Violence Act 2008?
After 3 months the order is made unless respondent challenges or applies under other sections of the act for variation or discharge
What are the special bail requirements following a respondents arrest?
A 24 hour cooling off period that the district court may bail within 24 hours of arrest before appearing at court
What is the power to search and seize firearms when a protection order is in existence?
Section 18 of the Search and Surveillance Act
