What was the feudal system based on the exchange of?
The feudal system was based on the exchange of land and services.

The king owned all the land in the kingdom and some of it to the church.
What were the people under the king known as?
Lords - Tenants in Chief / vassals to the King.
Knights - Lesser nobles / vassals to the Lords.
What was a piece of land called in the feudal system?
A piece of land in the feudal system was called fief.
What were three factors that contributed to the end of feudalism?
Mediaeval kings grew less reliant on their lords to provide soldiers for their armies. They turned to professional paid soldiers.
The Black Death in the 14th century which reduced the serfs available to work the land. Survivors of The Black Death had increased bargaining power and would demand higher wages.
Growing economic importance of towns and trade. These businesses resulted in the loss of power of the lords. In turn, there was the growth of the middle class.
