What are the lords duty’s
- if an enemy attacked; the Lord would have to send help
- they can’t cheat on them or punish them for no reason
What are the vassals duty’s
- they had to give the Lord money on special occasions, such as when his son became a knight or when his daughter gets married
- they also had to provide food and shelter if he came to visit
What could vassals become if they gained enough land
a fief

- the Normans formed a kingdom of Normandy, and married local French (Frank) woman

He was called William at the time when he fought in a war ( the battle of Hastings) and then he won and was called “William the Conqueror”
