he wasn’t present for any major battles or see the immediate after-effects
he missed the harshest conditions during the Winter of 1854 & didn’t capture the sufferings of the soldiers during that time

A
he manipulated photos to not cause public concern of the harsh conditions
& only took photos in the spring where the temperature was at 25°C
