Society is patriarchal. Male of domination of society:
- Controls women’s lives which prevents female criminality.
- Creates crime by men against women.

Feminist theories criticise sociology for being malestream - by men, about men, for men. Criminology, as a part of sociology is accused of being malestream as it ignore female criminality as it ignores female criminality and victimisation.

Female offenders are treated as double deviants. 1st - for breaking the law, 2nd - for breaking the norms regarding tradtional gender roles. Judges pass sentences according to women’s perecieved respectablity, e.g. is she a good mother, the clothes she wore as a victim. CJS mistreats female victims of crime by victimising them. 1st - when they were the victim of the crime, 2nd - in court when they have to give evidence against the offender.
What types of crime are women more likely to be victims of?
Domestic abuse - tend to be victims of crime by the people they know.
