Considered to have begun in 2012. Movement with greater awareness of FGM and sexual slavery.
What was third wave feminism?
1990s, wanted to define being a feminist, removing ‘burning bra’ stigma. Fought for diversity.
What was second wave feminism?
1960s, equal rights, equal pay, domestic abuse and marital rape awareness.
What was first wave feminism?
Fought for the right to vote in the 19th and early 20th century. Legal and property rights.
Give an example of feminist concept of reception.
Handmaid’s tale costumes being used at feminist protests.
What would a feminist critic be interested in?
How women are presented in literature. Challenging dominant attitudes towards how female characters are displayed, challenging the patriarchy. How gender stereotypes can be undermined.
