Liberal - argue for gender equality - especially in education and employment, wants women to express personal freedom
Marxist - capitalism makes women weakest, provide childcare, next work force, cleaning, cooking
Radical - men enforce patriarchy and women should live separate
Dual - two theories
Difference - focusing on ethnic minority women
Feminism as a political ideology
Wave 1 - late 19th century, early 20th for women to gain right for vote
Wave 2 - women’s liberation movement 1960s-80s trying to change women role at home. Changing laws around equality
Wave 3 - happening now. more focus on difference feminism and tackling diversity in women’s lives across different cultures eg honour killing, bridge burning
Criticism
Modern society women have progressed - more equal
Radical feminists contradict themselves
Ignores male oppression
