girls were evidently absent from most research on youth subcultures and when they did appear they were seen as stereotypical girls. This was due to girls being seen as uninteresting and most researchers being male and developing a rapport with the male subjects. Girls’ friendship groups were very close-knit and so studying them in their own right proved difficult.
