-Concerned with campaigning against sex discrimination for equal rights and opportunities for women
-Oppression is being naturally overcome - liberal feminists are about gradual form and not revolt
-Full gender quality has not been reached but progress has been made
What have liberal feminists achieved?
-Play a part in banning rape in marriage
-Played a part in equal pay act , sex discrimination act and employment protection act
Criticisms or Evaluation of liberal feminism
- ethnocentric ( one ethnicity ) - most middle-class white women are feminists
- Women are still more likely for domestic abuse
- Women still do most of the housework

Marxist feminism
- main cause for feminism is capitalism and not men
Functions of women perform for capitalism :
-reproduce labour force and absorb an anger - ‘ warm bath theory ‘
-Benston argues wife’s unpaid work is crucial for capitalist Society

-patriarchy is found in all societies not just capitalist ones
Radical feminism
-all relationships between women women are based on patriarchy
-One in four women experience DA (domestic abuse)
-Rape and abuse are more common in heterosexual relationships
Explain the duel burden and triple shift to do with radical feminism
Duel burden - domestic work which is unpaid and work on the side
Triple shift - emotional, domestic and normal work

The New Right
-promote familial ideology, idea of traditional nuclear family
-The golden age of the family was in 1950s since then it has only declined because of:
-Legalisation of abortion,com contraceptive pill being available on prescription, lower age consent and because women are now allowed to get divorced
What do the New Right believe :
-I believe that introduction of welfare state ( benefits ) Lead people to rely on handouts
What does the New Right claim :
-children from broken homes are x3 more likely to be aggressive
-Breakdown of married couples is 6% compared to 20% who aren’t married ( so better to be married )
