Q

radical feminism main ideas

A

emerged in early 1970s
- women’s main enemy are men and men benefit from patriarchy through unpaid domestic labour and sexual services
- believe that contesting for legal change is unlikely to bring about equality because the system itself is patriarchal and changes in it are always within terms of men
- strategies they believe will allow women to be free from patriarchy: separation (radical reodering in society), consciousness raising (education on patriarchy), political lesbianism
