describe the 5 steps of fertilisation/menstration

A
  • ovum develops in ovaries
  • 1 ovum released every menstrual cycle from ovary to peritoneal cavity
  • ovum is gathered by fimbriae into infundibulum of uterine tube
  • moved along uterine tube by cilia
  • if fertilised attaches to endometrium, if not menstruation occurs and ovum/endometrium is expelled by contractions of the myometrium
