What does progesterone do with estrogen?
Helps to regulate menstrual cycle and maintain pregnancy
plays a role in lactation
What is oogenesis?
Production of ova in the ovaries by meiosis
When do girl’s ovaries contain all of their egg cells?
Before birth
What is an ova?
The combination of oocyte and the protective cell aroud it
When do the oocytes mature?
puberty
Why do oocytes mature at puberty?
The pituitary gland secretes FSH which causes primary oocyte to mature producing a secondary oocyte that is released through ovulation/
When does the releasing of an oocyte stop
Menopause
What happens to the follicle during ovulation?
It breaks and releases the secondary oocyte which is then directed to the fallopian tube
