Anus, bartholin glands, clitoris, labia majora, labia minora, perineum, urethra, vagina
What is the function of the anus?
Surrounded by anal sphincter tissue, end of the digestive system
What is the function of the bartholin glands?
Secrete lubricating fluid during arousal and intercourse
What is the function of the clitoris?
Solely for sexual pleasure
What is the function of the labia majora?
To enclose and protect other sexual organs
What is the function of the labia minora?
To protect urethral and vaginal openings
What is the function of the perineum?
To support internal organs
What is the function of the urethra?
It is the end of the renal system, and allows passage of urine
What is the function of the vagina (external)?
It provides a passage to the internal reproductive system
What is the function of the vagina (internal)?
Facilitation of coitus, passage of menses (period) and a passage for birth
What is the function of the cervix?
Adapts to facilitate birth and labour
Where is the cervix located?
At the bottom of the uterus and the top of the vagina
What is the function of the fallopian tubes?
Fimbriae assist entry of oocyte ‘wafting action’
What is the function of the uterus?
Receives fertilised oocyte, nourish and protects developing pregnancy, assists in the expulsion of the fetus and placenta
