Feeding Levels Flashcards
What are the 4 trophic levels
Producer (grass)
Primary consumers(rabbit)
Secondary consumers (snake)
Tertiary (hawk)
What are scavengers
Animals like hawks, vultures that eat the bodies of dead animals
What are detritivores
Eat bodies of smaller dead animals dung and plant remains.
Ex: earth worm and crabs
Decomposers
Like bacteria and fungi break down the cells and take the last bit of energy from a dead animal or plant.
Where does all food chain energy originate from?
The suns energy
Trophic levels
Feeding level of one or more organisms in a food web. Ex : producer, primary consumer
Photosynthesis
Carbon dioxide + water + light energy - carb+ oxygen
Cellular respiration
Oxygen + carb- carbon dioxide+ water+ thermal energy
How does carbon move through food chains
Carbon in plants is eaten by a consumer then the consumer is eaten and later decomposers eat the remains and release carbon dioxide.
