Feedback Loops Flashcards
Negative feedback loops
Help the body maintain homeostasis by reducing changes in the body to bring it back into balance
Postive feedback loops
Continue to drive the body further away from its typical state
Stimulus (control of homeostasis)
Environment changes and an imbalance begins
Receptors (control of homeostasis)
Recognizes the stimulus
Control center (control of homeostasis)
The receptor send information to the control center through an afferent pathway to determine what response is needed
Afferent pathway (control of homeostasis)
From the organ to the brain
Effector (control of homeostasis)
The control center sends its response to the effector through the efferent pathway
Efferent pathway (control of homeostasis)
Brain to the organ
