Feedback Flashcards
What is the purpose of feedback
Detection and correction of errors
Maintain motivation
Reinforcement of learning
Name the 8 types of feedback
Intrinsic/ internal Extrinsic/ external Continuos Terminal Positive Negative Knowledge of results Knowledge of performance
What is intrinsic feedback?
Received from within the performer
Via proprioceptors
Easier as performers become more skilled
Also known as kinaesthetic
What is extrinsic/ external feedback
Received from outside the performer
Ether via sound or vision - exteroceptors
Also know as augmented feedback
Info comes from coach/ teacher/ supporters/ team mates
What is continuos feedback?
Received during performance
Via proprioceptors and kinaesthesis
eg. The feel or a shot when playing badminton
What is terminal feedback?
Received after the performance
Issued immediately or at a later point
eg. observing a video
What is positive feedback?
Used as a form of reinforcement
Encouraging the performer to repeat the action

What is negative feedback?
Used to discourage the performer
Used if a wrong action is performed
