Executive Order 11246: Affirmative Action (1965)

- Federal Contractors & Subcontractors
- Established so that anyone contracting with the Fed Government would have to become Equal Opportunity Employers and employ those from protected groups (Minorities, Women, Veterans, Disabled)
- Outreach and recruiting are main parts of Affirmative Action so that contractors can find talent from protected groups to fill roles and achieve a more equal workplace

The Drug Free Workplace Act (1998)
A
- Federal Contractors and organizations receiving grants from the Federal Government
- Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) in Dept. of Labor
- Whenever employee has a criminal drug violation in the workplace, employer must notify the contracting or granting agency within 10 days

Executive Order 13706: Paid Sick Leave for Federal Contractors (2015)
A
50+ Employees
- Federal contractors are directed to provide up to 56 hours of paid sick leave annually.
- Accrues at the rate of an hour for every 30 hours worked.
- May be carried over from year to year.

The Davis-Bacon Act
A
- Contractors/subcontractors working on federally funded or assisted contracts in excess of $2,000 for construction, alteration, or repair of public buildings or public works
- Must pay their laborers and mechanics no less than the locally prevailing wages and must pay fringe benefits for corresponding work on similar projects in the area

The Copeland Act
A
Anti-Kickback Act
- cannot induce employee on federal construction/repair of a federally assisted building or public work to give up any part of his/her compensation to which he/she is otherwise entitled
- similar contracts over $2,000 requires certain recordkeeping standards

A
- Min wage/max hours and safety and health standards set for contracts over $10,000 on federal manufacturing or furnishing contracts of materials, supplies, articles, or equipment
- Wage and Hour Division enforces wages/hours
- Safety/health enforced by OSHA

A
- calls for payment of prevailing wages and benefit requirements to all employees
- contracts greater than $2,500 for contractors
