This is the most important part of the synagogue as it’s where the Torah scrolls are kept

This is the lamp which is an eternal light
This is always on and should never be put out
It represent the Menorah which could have been in the temple before it was destroyed
It’s a symbol of gods presence and is usually in the shape of the Star of David

Is a candle stick holder which is used during Hanukah the Festival of Lights

The tablets often in the wall of the synagogue
They are known by Jewish people at the ten sayings

Rabbi seat
The rabbis seat
Rabbi means teacher and they are Jewish priests
Cantor’s and Torah reading table
This is where the Torah scrolls are read
Rabbi podium
This is where rabbis go to explain the Torah to the congregation
Bimah
This is the central platform in the synagogue
In orthodox synagogue the bimah is usually in the middle so the rabbi faces the congregation
In reform synagogue everyone sits together and the bimah is at the front

Where people who come to worship sit
In orthodox synagogue men and women sit separately
