Describe the duties of the Officer of the Day within the interior guard chain of command without error
The security of the command is the responsibility of the Commanding Officer. The responsibility of the Commanding Officer for the security of the command is absolute- except when directed by a higher commander. The Commanding Officer may delegate his authority to subordinates for the execution of the Interior Guard but such delegation of authority shall in no way relieve the Commanding Officer of the responsibility for the security of the command.
The Guard Chain of Command

(3) Officer of the Day/ Officer of the Deck, aboard ship (OOD)
(4) Commander of the Guard (if assigned)
(5) Sergeant of the Guard (SOG)

(8) Special Guard Sentries (if required)
Duties of the Interior Guard: Field Officer of the Day
The Field Officer of the Day supervises the entire interior guard and executes all orders of the Commanding Officer. The Field Officer of the Day is designated by, and responsible to, the Commanding Officer. He or she serves as the Commanding Officer’s direct representative during his/her tour of duty.
Duties of the Interior Guard: Officer of the Day
The Officer of the Day, or the Officer of the Deck abroad a ship, is the officer or SNCO who supervises the main guard. The Officer of the Day is charged with the execution of all orders of the Commanding Officer that concern the security of the area within the assigned jurisdiction. The Officer of the Day will be junior to the Field Officer of the Day.
Duties of the Interior Guard: Commander of the Guard
The Commander of the Guard ensures proper instructions, discipline, and performance of the main guard.
Duties of the Interior Guard: Sergeant of the Guard
The Sergeant of the Guard assists the Commander of the Guard in ensuring proper instructions, discipline and performance of the main guard. He/ she performs the Commander of the Guard if no Commander of the Guard is Assigned.
Duties of the Interior Guard: Corporal of the Guard (COG)
The Corporal of the Guard supervises the members of the guard assigned to his/her relief - guard members the COG is responsible to relieve. He/she performs the guardhouse duties of the Sergeant of the Guard when the latter is absent from guardhouse.
Duties of the Interior Guard: Main/ Special Guard Sentries
Sentries must memorize, understand, and comply with General Orders for sentries. Additionally, they will understand and comply with the regulations relating to General Orders, and with special orders applying to their particular posts. The sentry is assigned to keep watch, maintain order, and protect persons or property.
Describe the orders governing the interior guard without omission.
(1) To take charge of this post and all government property in view.
(2) To walk my post in a military manner, keeping always on the alert and observing everything that takes place within sight and hearing
(3) To report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce
(4) To repeat all calls from posts more distant from the guardhouse than my own
(5) To quit my post only when properly relieved
(6) To receive, obey, and pass on to the sentry who relieves me all orders from the commanding officer, officer of the day, and officers and noncommissioned officers of the guard only.
(7) To talk to no one except in the line of duty
(8) To give the alarm in case of fire or disorder
(9) To call the corporal of the guard in any case not covered by instructions
(10) To salute all officers and all colors and standards not cased
(11) To be especially watchful at night and, during the time for challenging, to challenge all persons on or near my post and to allow no on to pass without proper authority

(1) Inherent right of self defense against death, or serious bodily harm.
(2) In defense of non-DoD members to prevent death or serious bodily harm
(3) Protection of assets vital to National Security
(4) Protection against theft or sabotage of inherently dangerous property
(5) Protection against the sabotage or destruction of national critical infrastructure
(6) Defense against serious offenses against persons
(7) Arrest or apprehension of persons who proposes imminent threat or have committed a serious offense
(8) Escape of prisoners who have or attempted to commit serious offenses
